Let me share with you something that happened to me today. As usual, my Mom,my sister and I got ready for our bible study class at 7.15pm. But, instead of taking a taxi there, my mom decided to drive us to the class at Upp Serangoon Road. In case you don't know, my mom is a pretty bad driver. She failed her driving test at least 5 or 6 times before she got her license. So, she was not very confident about driving us there on time. I told my mom she would be just fine and I told her I knew the way. At around 6.50pm though, my mom started to be unclear of the directions. 'Should I go straight?' 'Yeah, go straight.' And then we arrive at the junction. 'Err, go straight or turn right?' 'Turn right!' She goes straight. 'Ohh dear, I missed it.' 'Nevermind, there's another route from here.' And we miss that route. 'MOM!You should have kept to your left!' 'It's okay, I'll just U-turn somewhere in front.' Except it's quite some time before we spot the U-turn. And, my mom misses that U-turn too. 'Oh, did I just miss it? I'll find another U-turn, no worries.' But, it turns out that there IS no other U-turn. We're on the expressway. And we watch as we pass Toa Payoh, Lornie Road, Mount Alvernia Hospital... My sis starts to cry.'We're lost! We'll never get home now.' Normally I'll chide her for being so childish but I'm scared too. And so is my mom. But look! There's a sign that says Changi Airport! My mom sighs in relief.'Finally, a place I recognise. I'm sorry, girls, but we'll just have to go home. It's too late to turn back.' Somewhere on the route home, my sis pipes,'Hey, we just went straight all the way and we're home!' I nod my head,'Yeah, you're right. That's crazy.' And my mom finds the right time to quote a bible verse,'So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.' That verse, surprisingly, actually applied to our predicament. We didn't turn left, we didn't turn right, we went straight and we were home! So in a weird kind of way today, we learnt to never make a wrong turn, cause you can never turn back. Also, next week, we're taking a cab until I'm old enough to drive us there.
