The difference a smile can make

A smile is the surest way to improve your looks.

Its 6.30am and you wearily unlock the door of your house and make your way to school. You meet your neighbour in the lift lobby. You greet with a polite 'Good morning' but you don't smile. Boarding the bus, the driver smiles and says a friendly 'Hello'. You nod your head in acknowledgement, but you don't smile back. You pick a seat in front of a mother and her child. The toy the child is playing with rolls to your seat. Bending down, you pick it up and pass it back to her. She thanks you with a sheepish grin, expecting some response. Instead, you turn back and settle comfortably into your seat, without a smile on your face. In school, your friends smile broadly at you, and finally, you return the smile. After school, at home, your younger brother tugs on your shirt and asks you to pour him a cup of water. You proceed to do so and return to your room, your face absent of a smile. :(
Sounds familiar? This could be you. Do you know the big difference a smile can make? Maybe you're at the supermarket buying groceries, and you notice a frazzled mother scolding her children. She looks up and notices you staring at her. Smile back. She just might feel comforted, thinking that someone at least understood the way she felt. And in one second, you would have improved her mood for the rest of the day. I'm not asking you to smile at everyone, but I'm asking you to smile at the appropriate times. Say you gave your seat up to an elderly man, but as soon as he sees your unfriendly smile he might feel that you were unwilling to give the seat to him. A frown can make people back off, it can make people feel unwanted. If someone says you look unfriendly, the only reason to why you look unfriendly is the absence of a smile on your face. The beautiful can become ugly if they do not smile, and the ugly can become beautiful if they smile.
:D
Surprisingly, it takes more muscles to frown and less muscles to smile. So, SMILE.
:)
But in the end, its still your face, and its still your smile.
